Android Privacy Policy
H.I.T Frequency · Google Play · Effective 2026-10-09
Privacy at a glance
- What you write in the app is kept on your phone, not on our servers.
- No account, no ads, no tracking.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play.
- Reports leave your phone only when you share them.
- The full policy below is in English and French. The English version applies.
1. Scope and everyday use
This notice covers the public Google Play Android application H.I.T Frequency. Android works without an H.I.T Frequency account, email address or password. Normal use is local first and works offline. The website has separate accounts and services covered by the Web Privacy Policy. On phones, the app may be shown under the name “HIT Frequency”. This policy is available in English and French. If translations differ, the English version applies.
2. Personal content stays on your device
Your habits, ratings (including the medallion that shows them), tasks, challenges, individual journals, general link journals, sleep records, goals, rewards, identity and self improvement information, progress and history are stored on your Android device. From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, this also includes journal threads (including the ones you create), reflections, journal templates and the values you enter in them, planned entries, notes about the people you work with, and report settings and presets. Links between habits, group sort preferences, custom ordering, settings and local Data Vault saves also remain there. H.I.T Frequency does not normally receive or store this content on its servers and cannot normally read, remotely recover or provide a server copy of it. In version 3, cards you link share one journal on your phone; linking never shares a journal with other people.
3. Local storage and your control
The app stores records, Data Vault snapshots, preferences and selected custom media in its private storage on your phone; version 2 uses a private browser database, local storage and a local media database for this. Android keeps reminder schedules and entitlement information in app storage. These are not a cloud backup. Depending on your phone’s backup settings, Android may include some app data in your device backup or in a transfer to a new phone; Google handles this under your Google account and its own terms, and H.I.T Frequency does not receive it. In version 3, journal attachments and the “Your brand” logo are excluded from Android backups. Clearing app data, uninstalling, losing or damaging your phone can lose local content. Use Data Vault and export options before making changes.
From version 3.5, Android’s own backup, if it is turned on in your phone’s settings, copies the app’s database to your Google account (your records, such as habits, ratings and journal text, your settings and Data Vault snapshots), along with your reminder schedules and a few small technical app files. On Android 12 and later, the app is included only when your phone has a screen lock, so the copy is end-to-end encrypted; on older Android versions, whether the copy is end-to-end encrypted depends on your Android version and screen lock. Journal voice notes, photos, videos and files, the “Your brand” logo, the sounds, pictures and videos you chose for ratings and Home, the photo of “Your why”, the previous version’s storage and Pro records are never in this backup. On Android 12 and later, moving to a new phone with Android’s own transfer (by cable or Wi-Fi) can move the rest of the app’s data, including the media you chose for ratings and Home and the photo of “Your why”, but never journal attachments, the “Your brand” logo or Pro records. Android and Google make these copies, not H.I.T Frequency, and we cannot see or access them. You can turn Android backup off in your phone’s settings.
Save files and Data Vault snapshots are made on your phone and contain your records and settings. From version 3.3, they also include the journal threads you create, reflections, templates and their values, notes about the people you work with, report presets, and the business name and contact line of “Your brand”. They do not include journal voice notes, photos, videos or files, or the “Your brand” logo. An exported file is under your control; the location or service you choose may store or share it under its own terms. Restoring a Google Play subscription restores entitlement, not your journals or habits.
From version 3.5.2, free Pro feature passes are managed on your phone. The app stores the number of passes used for each feature, expiry times, the latest observed time used to prevent clock changes extending a pass, and the local identifiers of cards and programmes imported with a pass. These records are not sent to H.I.T Frequency and do not identify you across devices. Android backup may restore them as part of the app database, depending on your backup settings; reinstalling does not guarantee either a fresh allowance or recovery of the previous allowance. Manual save files do not transfer pass counters. Resetting app data clears these records and resets the free passes while preserving verified paid Pro access. A free pass never creates a paid subscription or starts a charge.
4. Journals, journal tools and device permissions
Journals accept typed text in every version. In version 3 of the app (for newer phones), from version 3.1, voice notes, photos, videos and files can also be added to a journal entry, according to your plan as shown in the app. From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, they can also be added to a reflection.
The microphone is used only while you record a voice note or, from version 3.3, the sound of a video you record with the app’s own camera. The app asks for microphone access the first time it needs it and records only after you start a recording. If you do not allow microphone access, a video can still be recorded without sound.
Up to version 3.2, taking a photo or recording a video opens your phone’s own camera app, which hands the result to H.I.T Frequency; those versions do not request camera permission, and some camera apps may keep their own copy. From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, Take photo and Record video open the app’s own full-screen camera. The app asks for camera access the first time and uses the camera only while that screen is open. Photos and videos taken there are saved directly to the app’s private storage, not to your gallery. If you do not allow camera access or the camera cannot start, the app may open your phone’s own camera app instead, which may keep its own copy.
Voice notes, photos, videos and files you add are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. They are not sent to H.I.T Frequency, are not transcribed or analysed, and leave your phone only if you share them yourself, for example in a report. They are not included in save files or Android backups, so they are lost if you uninstall the app, clear its data or change phones. When you open an attached file, Android passes that file to the app you choose to view it; the app checks which installed apps can open a file only to offer them to you. Deleting an attachment or its journal entry, or resetting the app, deletes these files. Version 2 journals accept typed text only and do not use the microphone. Existing audio information in an imported save is preserved as data.
Custom audio or video chosen for habit feedback, and a picture or video you choose to show behind Home, are separate local media features: they are used on your phone and are not sent to H.I.T Frequency. Notifications and exact alarm access support reminders you configure. Reminder names may appear on your lock screen according to Android settings. The optional Open alarm action sends your chosen title and time to your Clock app. You control these permissions in Android settings.
5. Organising your journal
From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, the journal can group your entries into threads in date order, for example by the name of a card (such as a student’s name) or by an imported programme, and you can create your own threads. You can also reflect on a past entry and plan entries for upcoming days. This organising happens on your phone; none of it is sent to H.I.T Frequency.
You can add a template to a thread with your own fields, including numbers with units and targets, such as a weight, a distance or a count, and follow them as charts and progress on your phone. These are personal records that you enter yourself. H.I.T Frequency does not give medical advice, is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. For questions about your health, consult a qualified professional.
When you import a programme or habit bundle from a file you choose, the app reads the file on your phone and creates the cards it describes; the file is not sent to H.I.T Frequency.
6. Notes about the people you work with
From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, you can keep journal notes about people you teach, coach or work with, for example students of any age, clients or team members. In a group lesson you can write a part for the whole group and a separate note and colour rating for each member. These notes are stored on your phone, and the app does not send them to H.I.T Frequency.
You decide what you write, what you keep and with whom you share it, and you are responsible for doing so lawfully. Please record and share only information you are entitled to, and follow the rules that apply to you, such as your school’s or organisation’s policies and privacy law. For people under 18, this usually means keeping notes with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. A report for one member is designed to include only that member’s own notes, colour rating, and the photos, videos, voice notes and files added for them, plus what was written for the whole group, unless you choose a whole-group report; options that add more are off by default. Check the preview before you share a report.
7. Reports you export and share
From version 3.3 of the app for newer phones, you can export a journal entry, a thread or a group report as a PDF, or as a zip file containing the PDF and the original voice notes, photos, videos and files. Reports are created on your phone, and you see a preview before you share one. Colour ratings are left out unless you choose to include them.
From version 3.5, the app removes the location information that phones and cameras usually store, such as GPS coordinates, from the copies of photos and videos it puts in an export (in common formats such as JPEG, HEIC, PNG, MP4 and MOV); the originals in the app are not changed. Location stored in less common places, such as a camera maker’s own notes, may remain. Documents you attached, such as PDF or Office files, are exported as they are and may contain their own details (metadata), such as an author’s name.
A report leaves your phone only when you choose where to send it from Android’s share menu, for example a messaging app, email or cloud storage. After that, the app or service you choose and the people you send it to handle it under their own terms, and H.I.T Frequency does not receive a copy. Report files are prepared in the app’s temporary storage on your phone and are removed later by the app or by Android.
From version 3.3, reports exported with the free plan put a small “HIT Frequency” mark on the photos and videos inside a zip report, and the report PDF shows a small “Made with HIT Frequency” line. The mark is added on your phone to the exported copies only; your original photos and videos are never changed, and documents you attached are never marked. With Pro, you can switch the mark off or replace it with your own brand.
Reports can show a small “Made with HIT Frequency” line with a link to hitfrequency.world; depending on your plan, you can switch it off. If someone opens that link, the website receives normal connection information as described in the Web Privacy Policy. The business name, contact line and logo you add for reports (“Your brand”) are stored only on your phone and are not sent to H.I.T Frequency; the name and contact line are also kept in save files you create, but the logo is not.
8. Google Play purchases and verification
Purchasing Pro is optional. Google Play processes checkout under your Play account. How purchases are checked depends on the version of the app your phone receives from Google Play: version 3 for newer phones that support it, version 2 for other phones. The app’s details in Android settings show which version is installed. Version 3 checks purchases on the phone: it asks Google Play for your Pro subscription, checks Google’s signature on the purchase data with the app’s Google Play licence key and acknowledges new purchases to Google Play. Restoring asks Google Play again. Version 3 sends no purchase or integrity information to H.I.T Frequency. In version 3, the Google Play Billing Library built into the app may also send Google technical information about the billing connection, which Google handles under its own policies. For secure purchase verification and restoration, version 2 sends a purchase token, a request identifier, the verification action and a Play Integrity token over HTTPS to H.I.T Frequency. The verification service asks Google for the subscription product, base plan, purchase status, expiry and acknowledgement information. It retains a token hash and limited subscription, verification and fraud prevention records. It does not receive your Google password or full payment card number. Journal text, habits, sleep records, challenges, goals, progress and local saves are not included in verification requests. Google handles payment and account information under its own policies.
9. Integrity and temporary offline Pro access
Version 2 uses Play Integrity, which checks app identity, version, signing certificate, Play licensing and device integrity to protect purchases. Google processes the technical information needed for these checks. Our service receives verification results. The device stores the verified entitlement and verification timing so previously verified Pro can continue temporarily offline, within its subscription expiry and revalidation limit. Version 3 does not use Play Integrity. It keeps Pro on the phone by storing in app storage whether Pro is active, the plan, the purchase time and when Google Play last answered; it does not store the purchase token or order number. From version 3.5, this record also notes the latest time the app was used, so that changing the phone’s clock cannot extend offline Pro access, and it is sealed with a key kept in Android’s secure key storage (the Android Keystore), so the app can detect and reject a changed or copied record. It is not included in Android backups or transfers to a new phone; on a new phone, use Restore purchases on the Pro page. Up to version 3.3, the app asks Google Play again when it starts, when you return to it and when you open Pro. From version 3.5, it asks Google Play when it starts or when you return to it only if a Pro subscription record is saved on the phone; otherwise it connects to Google Play only when you open Pro, buy, restore or manage your subscription. Pro stays active while Google Play reports the subscription and, offline, for a limited period after the last answer. Review Access is a separate device entitlement for authorized review; it creates no purchase or subscription. From version 3.5, Review Access lasts 30 days from when its code is entered on a device (for access entered before version 3.5, the 30 days count from the update), and a new release of the app can end it sooner. The code is checked on the phone, nothing is sent anywhere, and the Review Access record is protected in the same way as the Pro record.
10. Connections, support and providers
An internet connection is needed for purchases and restoration, and in version 2 for verification. Version 3 connects only to Google Play, to load prices and to check, buy, restore or manage your subscription, and to websites you choose to open, such as the privacy and terms links, which open in your browser. From version 3.5, the app connects to Google Play when it starts or when you return to it only if a Pro subscription record is saved on the phone, to check it; otherwise prices load only when you open the Pro page. Version 2 also connects to the H.I.T Frequency verification service, whose infrastructure handles normal network information. If you open external legal or support links, the destination and its hosting providers receive normal connection information such as your IP address, browser information and requested address. In version 3, if you turn on spoken conditions, your phone’s text to speech service reads them under its own settings. If you contact support, H.I.T Frequency receives the contact details and content you choose to send. Do not send private journals or sensitive information unless necessary for your request. Hosting, payment and support providers may process this limited information in other countries with the protections required by applicable law. No advertising tracker or sale of personal app content is part of either version. Version 3 contains no analytics or crash-reporting service. Android and Google Play may collect their own crash and performance statistics according to your phone’s settings and Google’s terms.
From version 3.5.2, Help includes optional links to language-specific programme-import tutorials on YouTube. A video opens only when you select its link, in YouTube or your browser. The app sends the video address, without adding your habits, journals or a user identifier. YouTube and Google handle connection information and viewing activity under their own privacy policies and your account settings. These external videos require internet access; the animated guides built into the app work locally.
To create or repair an import file, you may choose to send the HIT instruction file, a prompt, JSON text or an error screenshot to an external AI service such as ChatGPT or Gemini. The Android app does not automatically send these items to an AI provider or generate the programme through an integrated AI service. Anything you choose to share is handled by that provider under its own terms and privacy policy. Review screenshots and remove private information before sharing them. Importing the resulting file or pasted JSON is processed on your phone.
11. Retention and rights
Local content remains until you delete it, replace it through an intentional restore, or remove app data. Copies you export require separate deletion. From version 3.5, Reset app data in Settings permanently removes what the app keeps on the phone: your records and settings, Data Vault snapshots, journal voice notes, photos, videos and files, the media you chose for ratings and Home, the photo of “Your why”, prepared exports, the camera’s unsaved shots and the previous version’s storage; it also clears deleted entries from inside the app’s database file. It keeps only the app language, the Colour shapes setting, this phone’s performance settings, your Pro access and a few technical settings, such as whether a permission was already requested and the camera’s lens and flash choice. Copies you saved outside the app, for example in Downloads, are not removed. H.I.T Frequency retains limited billing, fraud prevention and support records for subscription administration, resolving disputes and applicable legal duties; it does not maintain a remotely recoverable copy of your local content. Ask the privacy contact about information actually held by H.I.T Frequency, including access, correction, deletion, objection or other rights under applicable law. We may need limited proof that the records concern you and may retain information the law requires. Deleting local data does not cancel a Google Play subscription; manage that through Google Play.
12. Teen users and purpose
The Android app is intended for people aged 13 and older, including ages 13 to 15 and 16 to 17. It does not ask for a date of birth or create a remote account for normal use. If the law where you live requires a parent or legally authorized person to approve a purchase or processing of your information, obtain that approval before using that service. The app is not directed to children under 13. H.I.T Frequency is a habit, productivity, journal and goal tool, not medical advice, diagnosis, therapy or treatment.
13. Security and changes
App private storage and Android protections help protect local information, but no device or system is completely secure. Protect your device and exported files. If practices change, this notice will be updated with a new date and any legally required notice or consent. You may complain to your local privacy regulator or South Africa’s Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
